"Remember if you do everything right. No one will be sure you've done anything at all"

IT support field is a fickle thing. If you do a great job at fixing a problem then in theory that problem should not come back. That is where the problem lies, if you do a great job then you shouldn't have any problems and therefore you'll put yourself out of a job.

Of course if you take the above statement and look at it from a different angle you can pull out a entirely different meaning i.e a Business Model. This then leads me to a another statement I've seen around the place. "If you not part of the solution ,then theres good money to be made in prolonging the problem"

In reality the situation is this.. we design new more complex computer systems each year. yet no matter how complex we make these system we still need a human to operate and maintain them.

and as with all computer systems (mostly due to there complexity) something, sometime, somewhere will break and you will need a human to fix it.

lets just hope the guy whom fixes it is one the ones that sit on my side of the fence. (I don't like seeing problems come back).

Until next time Caio!

The Beavers suffered there second loss of the season but you know what? we won the second half against a team that has won there previous games 11-2 and 8-1 so lose only 4-2 to these guys was actually a tremendous achievement by all..

Technology at its best

Ok so I found this a few years ago but haven't got around to posting about it till today... How has technology made your life easier?

- I pay bills online
- I have an always on internet connection
- I can check my weather using my TV
- I can play any old Sega snes games on my TV
- We have multiple computers which allow more than one user to be using the internet at one time.
- My mobile phone means I can be in contact wherever I am and at any time
- I use to be able to check my bank account balance online

Technology I want:
- Roomba Automated vacum cleaning robot
- The new Lego Robotics kit ( so I can make robots that annoy my cat!)
- a Big widescreen TV
- A media centre PC (to replace VCR and DVD player)
- A new games console that is a flexable as my current one (go to hell xbox360)

60 Minutes

It seems we all grow up over time but tonight i realised I'm getting older... for example lets through back to about 1994 and i would be 14.... you wouldn't catch me watching 60 minutes. in fact you would of more likely found me bargaining with my dad to try and get him not to watch sixty minutes. But now flip forward to 2006 I'm now 26 years of age.. sitting in my living room watching sixty minutes.

Snow Trip 06

This years snow trip has come and gone. Here are some of the highlighted videos from the snow trip.

2 goals this week...

Good One now i've blown out the average...

2 goals this week. Firstly a brillant header into the net about 25 mins into the game.

Then a fumble from the goalkeeper turned into a goal thanks to a rather hard kick on the loose ball. (i wanted to shoot the ball through the net)

eventually turned out to be a 3-3 draw

The Cat In The Hat

The Cat in the hat
Who shat in our flat

Seems everything was going well
That was until we rang the bell
And said this smell isn't good for the soul
Then said why can't he just use the bowl?

The first time we changed the litter
The cat missed and things got a little bitter.
The second time we tried results were better
The cat shat right in the bowl to the letter

Then I woke up this morning to the find

THE FUCKING CAT SHAT IN THE BOX AND BEHIND THE TOILET AND IN THE KITTY LITTER BAG
BUT NOT IN THE TOILET
THAT FUCKING CAT SHAT IN MY FLAT.

Deadly Mother's Day cocktail kills teen

Bourbon, marijuana and butane gas - a deadly cocktail that killed a 17-year-old girl on Mother's Day and left young partygoers too scared to dial triple-0.

Now this shit pisses me off.... i'll explain why in a second

He said that the girl had been unconscious but breathing when placed in the shower, and it is possible emergency services could have saved her life if contacted immediately.

Despite the negligence of the people at the party, Detective Bryson said it is unlikely anyone will be charged.

Ok, so you know the difference between right and wrong and these party goers obviously know the difference too (there actions prove this they knew it was wrong to smoke inhale and do what they were doing) but when something went wrong and someone got in trouble they looked out for number 1 and number 1 only.. a girl died because of these party peoples direct reaction to the situation.. too scared they were going to get in trouble because of what they were orgininally doing...

I'm not just pissed off at the kids either i'm pissed off at whom's responsible for the investigation as well. "Detective Bryson said it is unlikely anyone will be charged." are you an idiot? as the article also states "and it is possible emergency services could have saved her life if contacted immediately." this means if they did the right thing this girl could still be alive today (although probably with brain damage from the butane gas [more likely lack of oxygen]) and they didn't do the right thing because they knew the doign the right thing would get them in trouble this proves in itself they these kids knew what they were doing and they knew right from wrong.

bah now i'm to worked up to finish this post... so i'm just going to upload it half baked..

Hyperbolic Discounting

"Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we may die."

It's an appealing philosophy to some, but for an average person in the modern world, on any given day the utterer is roughly 26,000 times more likely to be wrong than right about tomorrow's survivability. More often than not, one must answer for all reckless consumption and merriment; yet most of us continue to make choices which are detrimental to our futures.

Because i'm tall

Being tall i get distriminated against..

Why is that when i have to stand on any sydney train i cannot stand up straight...

When i get on a Syndey bus i cannot sit down... i don't fit into the seats..

Why is it that when i want to give someone a hug i have to conform to there height? why can't they meet my expecations and grow foot or two.

When i fly on an areoplane i walk off with brusied knee's. From being crammed into a tiny seat.

When i sit in a car my head hits the roof..

its all so unfair..

Except there is one thing in my favour. I can reach the chocolate on the top shelf! :) so i Guesss its no all bad.

Shityrail and the merry-go-round

This morning I Decided to call Shityrail to find out about what happening with the trackwork between Sutherland and Kirrawee.

So i called 131500 to find out.. the lady i spoke to there didn't know what the words 'Track duplication' even meant. she did however give me the corporate phone number for shityrail.

so i called shityrail and found my way to a lady on reception. after explaining what i wanted to know she was quick to refer me back to call the 131500 number...

Farout... i just want to know if they are laying tracks through my lounge room or not.

i'm now on hold (10+ mins) while the reception lady found someone one for me to talk to

ok so the receptionist at Shitrail Corp just gave me a link to a website that doesn't exisist..

but with the power of GOOGLE!!! i was able to find the rigth site.

I spoke to jorjina from the Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation whom seemed to know alot more about what's happening..

the Project is currently waiting on an evionmental impact assesment and when that is complete the results will be show at the local Libary and sutherland council.

I'm also on the e-mail lists for updates and news regarding this project..

So the lesson here? persistance pays off... keep going for it and you'll eventually get the information you want. now i can sleep easy until august when the contruction begins. Or at least until i findout about how much noise there will be.

Breaking Point.

Every day there is a new challenge at my place..

first is was the washing machine, it broke.
so we replaced it.
then that washing broke.
So we replaced it.
Then the pipes blocked and the place flooded
so we got the plumber to fix it.
then it flooded again.
so we fixed it.
then then it flooded again.
so we fixed it again.
Then the sink started leaking.
so i fixed it.
yesterday the TV broke.
so we replaced it.
the replacement is off colour and looks horrible.
so we are replacing it tonight.
then the plumber comes over this mornig to fix the flooding for good and the doorbell breaks.
so now i'm chasing that up with strata.

bloody hell what next?

why does everything keep breaking around at my place?

generally speaking.

Long time no post... but I assure you I am actually still here.

It’s a new year and it seems that that I’m settling into owning our first home. the repayments have started.. The first monthly payment have been ok so far but ask me again in few months and see if I’m still so happy about paying off a home loan.

On to fortune telling;
It seems that I able to some what know what is going to happen in the future. my mum would say this is because I’m psychic but i would tend to think that guess in the future is more of a calculated guess. Let me demonstrate.

We went to visit someone in hospital tonight, (don't worry whom we where visiting is fine) actually it was Sutherland hospital to be exact... floor 2 in one of the wards.
Now on entering the building I said to Rissa "I have a feeling we are going to run into my ex tonight" and guess what? We flaming well did.

We were sitting there talking with the patient in his room and then suddenly my ex appeared in the door way to chat to the patient, she stood there for about 10 seconds and then saw Rissa and I sitting at the end of the room. apon seeing me she left straight away... point is I said this would happen before it actually did.

Was I able to read in to the future? I think not.. And here's why.
I was previewed to information that my ex actually worked at this particular hospital.
I also know that nurses work shifts 3 to be exact. Day evening and night... so there would be a one in 3 chace that she would be working at that particular time.

Sounds like i had a fairly good chance at guessing this particular example but then again here is some other facts that you may not know. Sutherland hospital is big... I 4 floors hundreds of rooms... and there a tonne of wards. This makes the chance of me guessing this particular example a lot less.

Point is 2 things happened to me tonight I guessed the future and the second is I don’t like seeing people in hospitals. People don’t go to hospitals because they are well they go there because they are sick.
