Pixel 2 XL reboots when plugged into charger (or shortly after being plugged in)

So my trusty Pixel 2 XL started resetting whenever plugged into a charger. It would reset and then show the charging battery logo on the screen along with a small bunch of white lines at the top of the screen.
It also turns out my phone would reset with any charger I tried, be it the one next to the bed, the one in the car, or the USB C power plug in the kitchen. So with every charger now being an issue, I suspected the phone was at fault.

As always If you attempt this fix it's at your own risk. If you try this and break your phone further it's not my fault.

Here is what I did to fix this issue on my Pixel 2 XL:
- Start by turning the phone off. We are going to clean the charging port.
- Use a pin or a needle to remove the gunk jammed into the charging port. Get out all that lint from putting your phone in your pocket. Be careful not to break anything in the port as you'll then have other issues to deal with.
- Next, grab an alcohol wipe and gently use the needle and the wipe to clean the internal contacts inside the charging port. I had to use the needle very gently to push a small part of the wipe into the charging port and then used the needle to push the wipe around and clean the contacts. A surprising amount of black gunk was wiped off the contacts.
- Allow your phone charging port to dry out before turning your phone back on.
- When ready turn your phone back on and use it until the battery runs completely flat (0%)
- Now put it on charge and leave it to charge for a full cycle (from 0% to 100%).  Turn your phone on and see how you go

two-week update, after two weeks the issue came back on a wet camping weekend. So I took the drastic step of backup and factory reset. This has seemed to work but I will monitor it again for the next few weeks.

Hangouts v15 unable to send MMS

I recently moved mobile providers and found I was no longer able to send MMS messages via Google Hangouts. No matter what settings and reboots I tried I ended up moving to Google Messenger to fix/workaround the issue.

update - Since this is becoming one of my more popular posts I think others out there might be having the same issue I am.

Android Auto, now on your phone.

I've now had a chance to use Android Auto on my Nexus 6P for the past week and can say that this is the way your phone should behave when driving.

First up this makes the android interface for you phone very simplistic. The interface is reduced to only what you need to three sections recent contacts, navigation and music apps. The text interface becomes bigger and everything on the phone is easier to see and read. The home and navigation buttons also become larger.

Best part about Android Auto is that your voice is the now the main interaction instead of touch. Just yell out "Ok,Google navigate to work" and then a few seconds later navigation is up and running on your phone. Want to listen to music while you drive? Just yell out "Ok google, Play Music".

If you get an message while driving Auto can read it out for you and let you reply without even touching your phone. You can also configure auto replies to let people know your driving if you want.

Updated 21/11/2016: You can now have Android Auto read out your Facebook messages too.

You can also for Android Auto specify that when you connect to specific Bluetooth device automatically start Android Auto and the application will then only start if you remove the phone from your pocket and wake  up the screen (won't start if you leave it in your pocket which is really handy)

Samsung Galaxy S2 - Music / Audio / Doggcatcher randomly stops playing

Music or audio (including Doggcatcher) on my Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android) will play for a number of minutes and then randomly stop.

I have not be able to figure out the problem as yet.

Possible fixes:
Currently Testing - Soto Settings > Motion > Double Tap = Disable.
Results = This did not fix the issue. Music and podcasts still randomly stopped when playing.

Updated to new firmware.. Will be testing this over the next few days (Gingerbread.xxKH1)

I'll update this post again when I've finished testing over the next 48 hours.

Update: It seems that the latest firmware may have fixed this as I have not had any music stop since updating.
